Obituary of Julius Slavin

Julius Slavin, 59, of the SullivanArc White Lake Residence passed on Tuesday morning, October 10th at the Catskill Regional Medical Center Emergency Room after a long hospitalization.

Born on September 14, 1958 to Allen Slavin and Shirley Auster Slavin Julius, or JuJu or Julio as his ARC and Guardianship family called him, enjoyed listening to music, relaxing at home and being visited by his friends and others who cared for him.   Though Julius was not able to speak in the traditional manner, he spoke volumes with his eyes, hand gestures and by blowing kisses to those he was especially fond of.

Julius leaves behind many friends from his most recent home in White Lake and previously Ferndale, as well as his day program in Fallsburg.  His ARC and Guardianship family will sorely miss him.

Visitation will be held at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne NY 12788 on Thursday, October 12th from 1:30 to 2:30pm with services to follow immediately. Cantor Devorah Gartner will officiate.

On behalf of Julius, the following excerpt from the poem "I'm Free" is offered. "If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy.  A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things I too will miss."
