Obituary of Virgil Edwards

Virgil L. Edwards of Grahamsville passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013, quietly, at home. He was 77. He was the son of the late George Mckeen and Alice Jane Hunt Edwards, born on September 17, 1935 in Breezy Hill, Livingston Manor. Virgil was a self-employed HVAC and electrical technician who found enjoyment in bowling. He was a member of the Grahamsville Fire Department for many years and a member of the Neversink Agricultural Society. Virgil was a huge fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants teams. In May of 1986 he married the love of his life, Sandra Holmes Edwards. He leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend, Sandra Edwards; his siblings: John Edwards and his wife, Joan, and Alice Marie Edwards; and one brother-in-law, Chris Holmes and his companion, Alison and her daughter; many nieces and nephews and his feline friend, Lilly. He was predeceased by his siblings: Theodore, Emanuel, Vernon, Theodora Edwards and Bertha Blair. Visitation will be on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 10 to 11 a.m. A Firematic Service will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service; Rev. Bob Kersten will officiate. Interment will be held at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery, Grahamsville, NY.
