Obituary of Joanne Wieland

Joanne Wieland, of Albrightsville, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017. She was 76. She was the daughter of the late Leon Micewicz and Virginia O'Brien, born on August 2, 1941 in Yonkers, New York. Joanne worked as a care giver for Care Givers of America being a companion to her "old ladies" who she truly enjoyed spending time with and who enjoyed having her in their lives. Joanne worked many different jobs in her life. She worked at the Split Rock resort, often taking her grandchildren to the movies and for snacks there. In her younger years she worked at Peoples Bank as a teller and a waitress at one of the Yonkers local diners. Joanne was prone to getting lost and finding a way to make it into an adventure, one time specifically she had her grandchildren with her and they came across a moose crossing sign in the Catskills. She was a hardworking woman with a strong mind and a big heart, she will always be remembered as someone who spoke her mind no matter how much trouble it would get her into. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Joanne leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Veronica Knoll and her husband Kurt of Middletown, NY and Charles Wieland of Albrightsville, PA; her grandchildren Jacqueline Williams and her husband Matthew of Woodbourne, NY and Antonio C. Perito of Livingston Manor, NY; their father Anthony L. Perito; siblings George Micewicz and his wife Grace of Montrose, NY and Helen Borrelli of Yonkers, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and her close friends Yvonne and Carol both of Pennsylvania. She is predeceased by her husband Charles "Cookie" Wieland and her brother Leon Micewicz. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 2nd at her home in Albrightsville. A memorial service will be held at 12:45p on Saturday, September 9th at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Rd, Hartsdale, NY 10530. Rev. David Lothrop will officiate.
