Dear Aileen and family......We send deepest sympathy to you all in the loss of your dear Jack. So sorry we cannot be with you to celebrate his amazing life, but we know that anyone who knew Jack & was fortunate enough to call him a friend will surely have a great story to tell......thinking of you and sending hugs, Joyce and Mel Gitlin
As the Varsity Swimming Coach at Pine Bush High School I fondly remember our meets against Fallsburgh and coach Halchak. My swimmers knew that Jack would always have his team ready to swim. My swimmers still recall some of the memorable races they had against FHS. A meet in Fallsburgh was always a hotly contested event.
I was always thankful that Jack coached Fallsburgh and gave my team the opportunity to travel there. On one trip I sat next to two freshmen in the front seat of the bus. As we crossed Shawangunk Mt. the two boys stated that they had never been to the west side of the mountain. I was happy that we were making a trip to a new part of the world. You never know when you will touch the life of someone in an unexpected way. Jack was partly responsible for that Ah Ha moment.
