Obituary of George Rusin
George Rusin of Woodbourne passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He was 78. He was the son of the late Andrew and Kathrine Kolcz Rusin, born on February 22, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. George proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956. For many years he worked as a technician for Frontier Communications which was formerly Monroe Walden Telephone until he later retired. George enjoyed giving back to his community. He often volunteered at Catskill Regional Medical Center Lab and Meals on Wheels. George liked to play gold and spend time with his family. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his devoted wife whom he married on June 24, 1961, Joan Rusin; his sister, Pauline Kocijanski and her husband, Ted of Grahamsville; his nephews, John Kocijanski and his wife, Theresa of Monticello, Jimmy Kocijanski and his wife, Fran of Nevada; his great nieces, Kate and Meghan Kocijanski. He was predeceased by one nephew, Michael Kocijanski. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 29th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 30th at the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in George?s name can be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., NY 10065.
