Obituary of Maria Castro

Maria Elena Castro of Fallsburg passed away on January, 25 2013 at Westchester Medical Center. She was 50. She was the daughter of Larry and Vitalia Harrison born in New York, NY on May, 15 1962. Maria married the love of her life of 24 years, Samuel Castro. Maria was a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology at New York and a graduate of Sullivan County Community College where she achieved a license as a registered nurse. She served the New Hope Community as a registered nurse for five years. Maria was a loving foster mother of several children. On her spare time Maria enjoyed anything to do with fashion, as well as crocheting, painting, arts and crafts, cooking and baking, reading and entertaining her family and friends. She was a devout member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God. Maria leaves behind her loving husband, Samuel Castro; her three adoring children: her son, Richard and fiancee, Laura Schuman of Jersey City, NJ, her son, Aaron and daughter, Samantha, both of Glen Wild, NY; brother, Ismael and his wife, Amy Berrios of Woodbourne, NY and sister, Barbara Harrison of Woodridge, NY; as well as several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all. Visiting will be held Monday January 28th from 7 to 9 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 29th at the funeral home.
