Obituary of Gloria J Van Nostrand

GLORIA J. VAN NOSTRAND July 4, 1942 - March 5, 2017 Mongaup Valley, NY Gloria J. Van Nostrand, of Mongaup Valley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5th with her loved ones by her side. She was born on the 4th of July 1942 in Bangor, Maine to Alden Philbrook and Mavis Mitchell. She battled a long and courageous fight with cancer and now rejoices with her Heavenly Father. She is survived by her loving husband, Dudley F. Van Nostrand; son, Dale Shields and his wife, Vanessa, of Pine Bush; daughters: Robin Kimmons of Mongaup Valley, Cheryl Johnson and her husband, Ron of Kernersville, NC and Lorna Korth and her husband, Gary of Monticello; step-son, Dudley J. Van Nostrand and his wife, Joan of Smallwood; step-daughters: Kelly Friedman and her husband, Robert of Pennsylvania and Elle Van Gordan and her husband, Brian of Georgia; sisters: Ramona Hatt of Loch Sheldrake, Linda Hartley, Luanne Chaisson, Pam Hamilton, Bonnie Jones and Georgia Rinks all of Maine; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as her very special lifelong friends, Franny and Anntoinette Potter of Pattersonville, NY and her baby girl, Misty. She is predeceased by her parents, Alden Philbrook and Mavis Dorthy Mitchell; her daughter, Michelle Mori and grandson, James Shields. Memorial contributions in Gloria's name can be made to Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene, 210 Katrina Falls Rd., Rock Hill, NY 12775 Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A visitation will also be held on Friday, March 10th from 12 to 2pm, a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
