THOMAS CHARLES SCHUNK August 17, 1949 - February 25, 2017 Woodridge, NY Thomas Charles Schunk, 67, died suddenly on February 25, 2017 at ORMC of a virulent lung disease. Born August 17, 1949 in Racine, Wisconsin, Thom lived in many places around the country, alighting in Woodridge NY in 2004. Thom is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy, nee White; brother, Jim (Rita), and Nancy's family: Eileen White, Donna (Michael) Jushka, Barbara (Keith) Thompson, Dennis (Karen) White, David (Jayne) White, and the lucky people who got to call him Uncle Thom: Adam, Marla, Benjamin, Alexander, Emma, Liz, William and Mason. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Dorothy (nee Johnson) Schunk and best friend in the universe, David Thomas Williams. Thom was a teacher; words and ideas were vital to him. He received his PhD from Marquette University and was Adjunct Associate Professor of History at Orange County Community College, still teaching this semester until three weeks before his death. Discovering new music was a passion; his CD collection numbered over 5000. He read voraciously, amassing knowledge in a multitude of subjects. Thom especially adored his kitties, but no animal would go without his attention and affection. And Thom had the best laugh. Ever. Memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15th from 10 to 11am at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188.
