Obituary of Alfred J. Ruggiero

Alfred Joseph Ruggiero of Monticello passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 70 years old, born in Islip, New York. He was an Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Alfred is the son of Grace Matarazzo Ruggiero and the late Fred Ruggiero. He is survived by his wife Beverly Reid-Ruggiero, siblings Frederick, Robert, and Jeanann, former wife Christine Contreras Ruggiero, children Jason, Melissa, Christopher, Briano, Arianna, Shashelle, Shashanna, Narval, 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Alfred was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He was outgoing, loved by many and had a great sense of humor. His spirituality and open mind touched many lives. He always found a way to make you laugh and found the humor in any situation or circumstance. He had an answer for every question you asked, regardless of the topic or subject. He was skilled in many trades, well-rounded, artistic, loved wood-working, fishing and most of all he loved cooking for his family and friends. He was generous and selflessly helped others. He treated everyone with kindness equally, a friend, family, stranger. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who were lucky enough to have met him. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 6-9:00pm. A funeral service will be at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 8:00pm with Father Bill Scafidi officiating. Interment will be held at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery on Friday, February 3, 2016 at 2:00pm with full military honors.
