William Hughes November 11, 1946 – January 25, 2017 Loch Sheldrake, NY William Hughes of Loch Sheldrake, NY passed away on January 25, 2017 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 70 years old. William is the son of the late Mary and Owen Hughes; he was born in Bronx, New York on November 11, 1946. William is survived by his sister in law, Carol Lemcvak of East Meadow NY, brothers Owen Hughes and Mathew Hughes, sisters Anne Caputo and Jesse Hughes, and his extended family at New Hope Community. He is predeceased by his parents and his brothers Arthur and Eddie Hughes. William touched the lives of many people and there are many fond memories that evoke a smile when thinking about him. William could be very friendly and outgoing and would often greet people with “Hey, did you hear about me”. Willy did not mince his words and always expressed exactly what was on his mind. He was known for his resilience and his fighting spirit to overcome life’s hardships. He had a close relationship with his sister in law Carol and looked forward to his phone calls, visits, and gifts from her. William appreciated the value of a dollar and often enjoyed shopping with the money he earned from working or returning bottles. William’s presence and his resilient spirit, his quick wit and his love for Oldie’s Music will be greatly missed. He touched so many people who will have fond memories to cherish for a lifetime. He will be missed dearly. There will be a memorial for William at his home on Wednesday February1, 2017 from 12pm-2pm.
