Obituary of Maria Frunzi
Maria C. Frunzi entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 2, 2013. She was 86. "Ma", as she was affectionately known to her family, died at home. She was surrounded by her loving family, including her main caregivers: grandson, Robert Frunzi, his wife, Danielle and granddaughter, Marie Frunzi. Maria was the daughter of the late Michael and Antionette Andreola Ferrante. She was born June 22, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to South Fallsburg, NY in 1971 and spent the rest of her life there. Ma spent her life caring for her family; a devotion that began on October 1, 1950 when she married the late Michael A. Frunzi Sr., her husband for over 50 years. Together they had seven children, twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. Maria helped nurture and care for her family her entire life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her biggest source of pride and joy. She is survived by her sons: Peter Frunzi and his wife, Beverly of South Fallsburg, Michael Frunzi Jr., of South Fallsburg, Gary Frunzi and his wife, Lauren of South Fallsburg; daughters: Antoinette Burke of Rock Hill, Laura Castillo and her husband, Louis of South Fallsburg and Marie Dymond of Rock Hill. Survivors also include her sister, Josephine Fealy; brothers: Thomas and Nicholas Ferrante; and sister, Rosalie Gries; in addition to twenty-six grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her husband, Michael A. Frunzi Sr.; son, Bruce W. Frunzi; sister, Ann Cinitiempo, and her daughter-in-law, Christine Frunzi. Visitation will be on Monday, February 4th, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Rte. 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 5th, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 6317 State Rte. 42, Woodbourne, NY 12788 at 1 a.m. Father Lynch will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Peter?s Cemetery in Liberty, NY. Donations in Maria?s name can be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
