Obituary of Gilbert Doolittle

Gilbert W. Doolittle, 77, of Ellenville, NY passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Gilbert was the beloved son of the late William Doolittle and Elizabeth Nancy Mellis, born in Summitville, NY, on December 19, 1935. He was a past member of the Summitville Fire Police. Gilbert retired from VAW in Ellenville as a forklift operator. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family as well as spending time at auctions. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children: Evelyn and husband, Douglas Sanderson, of Napanoch NY, Todd Doolittle and wife, Barbara, of Ellenville, NY; three grandchildren: Kayla Sanderson, Megan Sanderson and her fiance, Richard Struber and Gillian Doolittle; his brother, Harold Doolittle and his wife, Alberta and several nieces and nephews. Gilbert is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Cecilia (Grimme) Doolittle; his brother, Franklin and his wife, Gail Doolittle; his sister, Dawn McFarland and her husband, Arthur. Visitation will be held Friday, March 22nd, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428. Cremation will be held at the family?s convenience. Interment will follow on Grahamsville Rural Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the family.
