Obituary of Johanna Powell

JOHANNA POWELL August 19, 1921 - April 12, 2015 Woodridge, NY Johanna Powell of Woodridge passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Elant at Meadow Hill. She was 93. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Krempasky, born on August 19, 1921 in Jessup, PA. Johanna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all that knew and loved her. She always made her home a warm and inviting place for all to come and visit; she will be deeply missed. She was a member of the Woodridge Senior citizens for many years and devoted many hours to aiding meals on wheels and any other organization that needed her help. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. She is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara Helie-Berger and her husband, John; her grandchildren, Robert and Shawn Helie; two great granddaughters, Johanna and Viena Helie; her sister, Emily Gripp; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, William Powell Sr., and her son, William (Billy) Powell Jr. Visitation will be on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 6317 State Route 42, Woodbourne, NY 12788 at 10 a.m. Father John Lynch will officiate. Interment will follow at Hurleyville Cemetery.
