Obituary of Eugene Walter Fuller

Eugene "Gene" Walter Fuller departed his earthly home for his heavenly home on February 5, 2015. He was 87, born July 12, 1927 to Bruce and Genevieve (Dean) Fuller. Gene was a lifetime resident of Eureka and Grahamsville. Gene joined the US Navy in his junior year of high school in 1945 on The Perkins, a destroyer in the Asiatic Pacific Ocean until his honorable discharge in 1946. He returned to finish high school and graduated from Ellenville in 1947. Gene attended Bliss Electric School. He drove a "Uke" to help make the Merriman Dam. Work started on the tunnels on the Neversink dam and he became a master electrician. When the dam was completed he was an employee of the DEP as an electrician in the upstate water system for 30 years retiring in 1987. Gene enjoyed his family, especially camping and boating on Lake George each summer, he and his family were true outdoorsman. He really enjoyed traveling and took many train trips across the US to see Perkins reunion and country tours. Taking a car trip on a Sunday with nowhere special to go was a memorable past time, and don't forget the great yard sales and flea markets to explore. Gene also enjoyed the challenge of his work and put much pride in the finished job. He liked his pets and always had one or more. A favorite past time was watching the deer and birds. He had a passion for local History and enjoyed reading both magazines and books. Gene was a life member of the NRA, VFW, America Legion, The Tin Can Sailors and Wawarsing Sportsman Club. He was a member and past Master of the Liberty Lodge #521 F&AM, Tri-Valley Lions Club, The Perkins Retiree Group, Sullivan County Co-Op Extension, Neversink Antique Tractor Club, Grahamsville Fire Dept. (a past chief). Gene is remembered by his loving wife Frances Furman Fuller who he married on July 7, 1984, 2 daughters, Eileen (John) Costa, Kathleen Donelli, 2 sons, Glenn (Wendy) and Stephen (Cindy); grandchildren Allison Costa, Megan Donelli, Katherine (Gary) Ellsworth, Bruce and Jake Fuller, Amanda (Chris) Bulawa and Stephen II Fuller, great-grandchildren Benjamin and Kaiden Ellsworth and Caleb Advincula. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his first wife Virginia (Ackerly) Fuller, granddaughter Stephanie Costa and a son-in-law John Donelli. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 10am to 12 noon at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne NY 12788.; with a funeral service will follow at the 12:00pm, Rev.
