Obituary of Leo N. Rexford III
Leo Nile Rexford, III, 60, of Hasbrouck, NY, passed away at Catskill Regional Medical Center, in Harris, NY on November 9, 2014.
Born in Liberty, NY, he was the eldest son of the late Leo N. Rexford, II, a graduate of Tri-Valley and SUNY Morrisville. He is survived by his Mother, Virginia E. Rexford, 81. Leo just recently moved back into his childhood home. He and Virginia were going to take care of each other.
Leo is predeceased by his wife, Sharon "Becky" Rexford. Leo is survived by his daughter, Heather Gibson, and her husband Christopher Gibson, of Hurleyville, NY. He has two siblings, John and his wife Bella, and Francine. He also has several nieces and nephews.
Leo was also lucky enough to find companionship after his wife passed away, and is survived by his girlfriend, Deb "Debbie Do" Adams, and her two sons, Mikey and Matty of Peekskill, NY.
Leo was the friend everyone should have. He was quick with a joke, and always there to lend a helping hand. He began working when he was just nine years old on the family farm. He became an experienced laborer, who could fix just about anything. He had several careers; mostly in engineering, mechanics, and oil/propane service work. He wasn't quick on a job. However, he was a perfectionist. His attention to detail and his kindness helped him develop loyal customers. He also enjoyed mentoring others, by teaching and consulting.
He enjoyed reading, trivia, factoids, football, hunting, and just "tinkering around" He enjoyed a simple life. He approached life one day at a time, believed in basic American principles, like farming and industry. He was a patriot who loved to honor our military. He loved trains, motorcycles, clydesdales, and Lancaster County. He loved good food and good conversation. He truly appreciated the bond between animal and man. He especially loved dogs and spent close to two decades breeding boxers and bichon frises. He was a real Dr. Doolittle.
His daughter Heather, and the entire family, would like to extend a special thank you to the CCU at CRMC. They did everything they could to keep Leo comfortable during his final days. They went above and beyond their jobs each time they took a stroll down memory lane, laughed with him, and listened. Their bed side manner is a true example of what every hospital should model. In the end, he received the same kindness he'd given to others his entire life.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 13th. And a funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday November 14th.
