Obituary of Roger Elmer
Roger Elmer of Loch Sheldrake, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at his home. He was surrounded by those closest to him and passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home. He was 89 years old.
Roger was the son of the late Cora Elmer and was born in Union County, PA on September 21, 2014.
Roger was a kind soul with a warm smile that was contagious to those around him. He was beloved by many, and was a good friend to those lucky enough to call themselves such. His best friend Marty, who predeceased him in 2010, was one of the luckiest, and they remained close for the duration of their lives.
He had a great appreciation for nature and was an avid gardener. He could often be found in the greenhouse planting, caring for and tending to the plants. He loved birds and spent many hours bird watching. Roger enjoyed art work and would often combine his passions, painting pictures of birds for those he cared for. Roger was a proud New Yorker and loved the New York Yankees and had a passion for collecting NYPD memorabilia. Roger was Roman Catholic and his faith played a role in his life. He had an appreciation for and would collect religious articles and enjoyed Catholic services.
Roger was predeceased by his mother, Cora Elmer.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on Monday, October 27th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Woodbourne, NY. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Woodbourne, NY.
