Obituary of Francis Paul Exner

Francis "Frank" Paul Exner of Woodbourne was called home to the lord on October 7, 2013 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 72. He was the son of the late Richard and Jennie Ellsworth Exner, born on May 26, 1941 in Ellenville. He was a retired Correction Officer from Eastern Correctional Facility; a past president of the Woodbourne Fire Department and a lifetime member of the Woodbourne Ambulance Corp. Frank was a devout and active member of the Ulster Heights United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the choir and held many various positions through the years. Frank and his wife Helen (Sis) owned and operated the Rainbow's End Daycare in Woodbourne for the past 35 years. He was the kids' beloved "Frankie". Frank was a kind, hardworking family man who loved his children and grandchildren dearly. They were the light of this life; his favorite hobbies were snowmobiling, boating, camping, hunting and fishing with his family and anything to do with his computer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years Helen Hartman Exner whom he married on April 29, 1962, his children Francis Exner and his wife Valorie of Woodbourne, Paul Exner and his wife Leah of Woodbourne, Bryan Exner and his wife Vanessa of Bloominburg, Justin Exner and his wife Crystal of Hurley, Erica Dolan and her husband Jimmy of Plattsburgh, his grandchildren Ian, Katelyn, Cody, Andrew, Ashley and Emma, his siblings Ruth Bevier of South Carolina, Donald Exner and his wife Rita of Ellenville, Richard Exner and his wife Dee of Ellenville, William Exner of Florida, his brother and sister-in-laws Donald Hartman and his wife Charlotte of Hurleyville, Jimmy Hartman and his wife Joyce of Woodbourne, Mary Garber and her husband Roy, Debbie Bertholf and her husband Gene of Loch Sheldrake, Geralyn Hartman of Arkansas, many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his canine companion Buddy. Visitation will be today October 8, 2013 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 2-4:00pm and 7-9:00pm. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Ulster Heights United Methodist Church, 1264 Ulster Heights Road Ellenville, NY 12458. at 11:00am. Pastor Michael Sparrow will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations in Frank's name can be made to the Ulster Heights United Methodist Church, 1264 Ulster Heights Road Ellenville, NY 12458.
