Obituary of Edith M. Porter
Edith M. Porter of Neversink entered into rest on Monday, October 14, 2013 at
Roscoe Regional Rehab and RHCF. She was 96.
She was born in Divine Corners to the late Grant and Hattie Everett on February
7, 1917.
She was the widow of Rufus W. Porter who predeceased her on May 10, 1999. Edith
was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great
great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, doing jigsaw and
crossword puzzles and she loved reading.
She is survived by her two daughters Mary Lee Haag and Margaret Ulrich and her
husband Carl, seven grandchildren Keith Eighmey, Louise Dayton, Kenneth Haag,
Karl Haag, Brenda Distel, Karen Hess and Susan Giangiacomo, 10 great
grandchildren, Kelly Rushford, Keith and Austen Eighmey, Mary Lee Warren,
Michael Haag, Andrew McCabe, Timothy Distel, Jonathan and Joseph Giangiacomo,
and Jennifer Snodderley, 5 great great grandchildren Chloe Warren, Harper
Rushford, Michael, Kayleigh and Dominick Giangiacomo, sister Genevieve Goode, many
nieces and nephews and many friends who called her "Ma".
She was predeceased by her great granddaughter Stephanie Diescher, brothers
Wilber, Jay, George Everett, her sister Louise VanValkenburg and one
son-in-law George "Stretch" Haag.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Colonial Memorial Funeral
Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 7-9:00pm. There will be a
graveside service on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Grahamsville Rural Cemetery,
State Route 55 Grahamsville, NY 12740 at 11:00am.
