Obituary of Jack M. DeGraw
Jack M DeGraw, Sr. passed away October 6, 2013 at the Veterans Hospital in Albany. He was 81.
The son of the late William and Beulah DeGraw. Jack was born May 24, 1932 in Fallsburg NY.
Jack honorably served his country during the Koran War in the U.S. 8th Army obtaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, a United Nations Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. He continued to serve his community volunteering for 38 years at the Town of Fallsburg Auxiliary Police Dept. obtaining the rank of Captain. Jack was an active member of the Fallsburg Cemetery Association for many years until the time of his death.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley Emma DeGraw; his siblings, Evelyn Decker, Earl DeGraw, Martha Hummel, Russell DeGraw, Thelma Decker, Leo DeGraw, Toby DeGraw and Edna DeGraw.
Jack is survived by his loving wife at home, Charlotte DeGraw; and his children, Laura Domingo and her husband, Charles, George DeGraw and his wife, Laura, Beth Barotti and her husband, William, Jack DeGraw Jr. and his wife, Cherie, Jay DeGraw and his wife, Andrea, Joshua DeGraw; and two step children, Melissa Kaplan and Jason Kaplan; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788, today, Wednesday October 9, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Pastor Carl Caskey will officiate. Interment will follow at Fallsburg Cemetery with full Military Honors.
