Obituary of Gary F. Slater
Gary F. Slater of Woodridge passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving brothers. He was 78.
He was the son of the late Stephen and Frances Stratton Slater. Gary was born on October 28, 1935 in Monticello, NY.
Gary was one of the owners of Slater's Garage in Woodridge, NY. He was a true outdoorsman; in his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Woods Pond Rod and Gun Club as well as a 50 year member of the Woodridge Fire Department. He was a loving son, brother and friend that will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his brothers Robert "Bob" Slater, Jim Slater, both of Woodridge, NY Glen Slater and his wife Yolan of Stony Point, NY, two nephews Brett Slater and his wife Kelly of Tucson, AZ., Tyler Slater of Danbury, CT., his Aunt Ethel Stratton of Appalachia, NY, close cousin Howard Craft and many other cousins and a host of friends.
He was predeceased by one brother John Slater.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 10:00am-12:00pm. There will be a firematic service at the funeral home on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:45am. A funeral service will follow. Interment will be held at Glen Wild Cemetery, in Glen Wild, NY.
