However, he was best known as the best fish filleter in the mountains for which his photo was in the Record. He had many customers during his years at Proyect Fish Market and was sort after during the Jewish holidays. He retired while working at Eden Brook Fishery. George made an impact on many of the youths, teaching some how to clean fish, play the guitar and encouraging them to get an education. He was especially fond of his granddaughter and Kristi Gilmore. He enjoyed running, entering many races winning tee shirts and a trophy. He was a former member of Bethany Lodge # 101, Free and Accepted Masons; served as Worshipful Master and was Master Mason of the year in 1975. He enjoyed hiking with his daughter and planting flowers with his wife especially Zinnias and Marigolds. He was an avid fisherman spending many hours on various lakes with family and friends. He was a collector of caps and was always with one on his head; even to sleep and in the hospitals. Today we celebrate the life and times spent with him. George was not afraid to meet the Lord and was thankful for the bedside prayers of pastors, his wife and daughter, Elizabeth Zachariah and Rabbi Isaac Alter neighbor on the left. George went to rest at 4:15 on January 20, 2014 at Catskill Regional Medical Center to await us and greet us someday. He did not want anyone to grieve and requested his wife to not cry but be happy until they met again.
