Obituary of Olga Carlson Denman

Olga "Toots" Carlson Denman, age 90, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at The Paul's Run Retirement Community in Philadelphia, PA. The daughter of Gottfried and Olga Anderson Carlson, she was born on August 18, 1923 in Roscoe, NY. A 1940 graduate of Livingston Manor Central School, Toots worked for the GE Plant in Schenectady, NY during WW II. She married 1st Lt. Fred A. Denman in February 1945 and moved to the Denman homestead outside Livingston Manor that spring. She and Fred improved Denman Farm so that it was one of the largest and most progressive dairy farms in Sullivan County in the 1950's, 60's, and 70's. After Fred's death in 1982 she downsized and sold the farm. Toots was a former member of the Livingston Manor Chapter of Eastern Star, the Liberty Bowling League, and was active in many farm organizations. She was a Girl Scout leader and PTA member when her daughters were young. She retired in 1974 from the Sullivan County National Bank, where she worked as a teller. She was a member of the Livingston Manor Senior Citizens and the Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church. She loved music and played the violin and harmonica. She knitted many gifts for friends and relatives. She especially loved the Carlson clambakes in Shandelee and the family gatherings at Denman Lake. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred and her five older brothers: Walter, Robert, John, Albert, and David Carlson, and one sister, Beatrice Carlson. She is survived by her three daughters and their families: Joyce Pagnucco and her husband Anthony of Charlottesville, VA, Bonnie Vicki and her husband Larry of Pottersville, NY, and Dr. Susan Denman and her husband Dr. Simeon Bardin of Bala Cynwyd, PA, nine grandchildren: Adam Pagnucco and his wife Holly Olson of Silver Spring, MD, Nicholas Pagnucco and his wife Elizabeth Paris of Auburn, AL, Carrie Pagnucco and her husband Justin Gottschalk, of Washington, DC, Matthew Vicki of Syracuse, NY, Melanie Parker and her husband Harold, of Pottersville, NY, David Stern and his wife Sarah Davidson of Washington, DC, Hannah Bardin of Tel Aviv, Israel, Rachel Bardin of NY City,NY, Jacob Bardin of Bala Cynwyd, PA, and five great grandchildren: Andres Pagnucco, Joshua and Hayley Parker, Robert Roman, and Ezra Stern. She also is survived by three sisters: Anna Victoria Loucks and Esther Roberts both of Port Richey, FL, and Bernice Weissmann and her husband, Eugene, of Callicoon Center, NY, two sisters-in-law: Erma Carlson and Alma Denman both of Livingston Manor, and a large extended family. Visitation will be on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 2-4:00 pm and 7-9:00 pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl St., Livingston Manor, NY. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11 am, with burial at the Beaverkill Cemetery to follow.
