Obituary of Monroe Levine
Monroe Levine of South Fallsburg passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility. He was 85. He was the son of the late Louis and Celia Feinberg Levine, born on March 26, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY.
Monroe was an active member of his community. He was a past Chief and Fire Commissioner of the Fallsburg Fire Department and a member for over 68 years. He was a Past President of the Fallsburg Lions Club and a member of the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association. He was a founding member of the Fallsburg Chiefs Associate; he was the Town of Fallsburg Historian. Monroe was a third generation proprietor of Fallsburg Lumber Company; which he was dedicated to for over 68 years. His family and business were his passions and joy. He was a devoted husband and brother, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and dear friend to all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Levine; his children: Leonard Levine and his wife, Donna, Steven Levine and his wife, Ellen, Richard Levine and his wife, Stacy and Lynda Levine; his grandchildren: Nolan (Natasha), Blake, Jacqueline, Casey (Patrick), Benjamin and Madison Levine, Morgan and Cody Vegliante, great-grandson, Braydan Levine, his sister, Gloria Levine, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Murray and Ellen Bresky and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his brothers Chester and Lawrence Levine.
There will be a funeral service Today, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Synagogue, 26 Lake Street, South Fallsburg, NY at 2 p.m. Rabbi Barros will officiate. Interment will follow at South Fallsburg Hebrew Cemetery, Glen Wild NY.
The family will be observing Shiva from Tuesday, March 25, 2014 through Friday, March 28, 2014 at the home of Charlotte Levine.
