Obituary of Bethia Lew
It is with great regret and sorrow that this Passover evening April 14th 2014 my mother the very talented Bethia Lew of Mountaindale and Great Neck, NY has gone and joined my father and brother at 91 years of age. Her loving husband Bernard and son Robert predeceased her.
Bethia was a Cooper Union Graduate and a fine artist and art teacher in the NYC school system where she made even the student with all thumbs feel like an artist. She never had a plan book because she felt that every student in every class was different. Students would fight to be able to get into her art classes. She worked in all forms of media from sculpting in stone and wood to painting in oil and watercolors. She even designed and created jewelry.
Her son and daughter-in-law Benson and Fern Lew, her granddaughters Gypsy Fisher and husband Darvin of Mack, Colorado, Nichole Yuhas and her husband Grady of Santa Monica, CA, Laura Roller and her husband Jon and April Adamo and her husband Aaron of Buffalo, NY, and great granddaughter Izabelle Roller survive her.
Family and friends will very dearly miss her.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Hebrew Congregation of Mountaindale Cemetery in Glen Wild, NY. at 1:00pm.
Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, for further information please call 845-434-7363 or visit www.colonialbryantfuneralhome.com.
