Obituary of Arnold Charles Ackerley
Arnold Charles Ackerley, Jr, a resident of Liberty, NY passed away peacefully on Monday April 14, 2014 in the presence of family at Achieve Rehab and Nursing Home in Liberty, NY. He had endured a long illness with a dignity and grace that will serve as a lesson to those that were lucky enough to know him.
Arnold was born to Arnold and Margaret Ackerley on January 6, 1945. Arnold was one of thirteen children. He worked most of his life as a master mechanic and enjoyed racing stock cars, drag racing, hunting, fishing, gardening and photography. Later in life he became a classic movie and television afficianado, and cherished works that celebrated family and traditional American values. If Arnold had one great passion in life it was family.
In addition to his mother, Arnold is survived by his children: Sherri Cassidy, Wendy Friedman,
Arnold Ackerley III and Mathew Ackerley; his grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Joseph, Emily, Patrick, Rachel, Joshua and Marie; and great grandchildren, Timothy and Natasha; his brothers and sisters: Richard, Donald, Marion, June, April, Ginger and Cindy; He is predeceased by his father, Arnold Ackerley Sr., his sister's Joy Ackerley and Caroline Johnson as well as his brothers Roy, Wesley and Gene Ackerley.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788 from 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of Arnold's life will begin at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
