Obituary of Bonnie Meyerhoff
Bonnie Jean Meyerhoff, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. She was born on June 3, 1929 in Lousiville, KY to the late Harold and Lilly Parcell.
Bonnie attended Julliard School of Music on a Music Scholarship. She later won another scholarship to sing a solo performance at Town Hall in NYC. She met Harry, the love of her life, while at Julliard, and they were married on June 19, 1952 in Toledo, OH. Bonnie and Harry sang and performed together for 40 years, with the stage name the Carlyles in resorts in the Catskills, on the Arthur Godfrey Show, on cruises and more. They even sang for former President Jimmy Carter when he visited Lew Beach, NY.
For most of their married life, they lived in Lew Beach, NY, moving there in 1969 from Brooklyn where their two boys, Timothy and Jonathan were born. Harry passed away in 1999, and Bonnie moved to Ithaca in 2005 to be closer to her family.
At the time of her death, she was living at Howd's Nursing Home in Moravia, NY. Bonnie was devoutly Christian, and even when there was no congregation, she and her son, Timothy would open the Lew Beach Church and conduct weekly services. She would play organ and Timothy would read Bible verses. She was full of love, compassion, and kindness. Her passions were God, music, gardening, traveling and her family. She was an avid reader seeking to gain a deeper understanding of God, Love, health and the mysteries of life and the unknown. Bonnie was a great mother and wife. She always put others first, which sometimes worked to her detriment, but mostly gained her many friends. She will be sadly missed.
Bonnie is predeceased by her parents and her husband, Harry. She is survived by her sons, Timothy (Leslie) Meyerhoff and Jonathan (Jai) Meyerhoff, and her grandchildren, Saia, Honor, Sat Ardas, and Amrit, all of Ithaca.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Herbert C.
