Obituary of Hilda Misner
HILDA MISNER
September 26, 1925 - January 22, 2012
Woodbourne, NY
Hilda Misner, a 68 year resident of Woodbourne, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. She was 86. She was the daughter of the late John and Frieda Kahler Jantzen, born on September 26, 1925 in the Bronx, NY.
She married Karl Misner on December 14, 1943; he predeceased her in 1992.
Hilda was very involved in her community; she was a member of the Woodbourne Reformed Church. This is where she and her husband had an instrumental role in achieving National Historic Certification for the church. She was also active with the Sweet Adelines of Middletown, NY. She was always very thankful and full of gratitude. Her passion in life was gardening, and she took great pleasure in visiting people who were suffering, lonely or convalescing. She cherished her family and all the memories they shared; she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph English, whom she married in 1999, her daughter, Deborah Escott and husband, Nicholas of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and their children: Vanessa, Julia, and Alex, her son, Steven Misner and wife, Amy of Atlanta, GA., and their children, Nicholas and Merritt; six great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Services were held privately at the convenience of the family. There will be a memorial service at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hilda's name can be made to the charity of one's choice.
Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home. For further information, please call 845-434-7363 or visit our website at www.colonialbryantfuneralhome.com
