Obituary of Franklin Gibson

Franklin E. "Coach" Gibson of Livingston Manor, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 71. He was the son of the late Harold E. and Rachel Mack Gibson, born on October 20, 1940 in Pottsville, PA. Frank was a proud graduate of East Stroudsburg University where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees. Frank was a dedicated member of his community throughout his life. He began teaching in Palmer Township, Easton, PA. The remaining 32 years of his teaching career was spent at Livingston Manor Central School District as a teacher, athletic director, and coach of football, track, cross country, girls' basketball, and volleyball. He was initiated into the Livingston Manor Sports Hall of Fame and the Western Sullivan League Hall of Fame at Sullivan County Community College. He was a past president of both the Western Sullivan League and Section IX. Coach was awarded the NYS Athletic Administrators Award for Outstanding Athletic Administrator in 1985. He was the present Justice for the Town of Rockland since 1999. He was a member of the New York State Magistrate's Association. He was a member and Past Master of the Livingston Manor Lodge # 791 Free and Accepted Masons. He was a member of the Sullivan-St. Tammany Chapter # 298 Order of the Eastern Star and Past Worthy Patron. He was current District Grand Lecturer for the Delaware-Sullivan District, Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed deer hunting and was a member of the Cradle Rock Ridge Hunting Club. He was also a member and past Secretary of the Hoos Truck Company #2. He liked to tell jokes and had a great sense of humor that will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him. He enjoyed camping, but most importantly he loved to spend time with his family. He had a special love for his grandchildren and would spend as much time with them as possible. He was a devoted husband, caring father and adoring grandfather and will be deeply missed. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of fifty years, Lois Ann Gibson; his daughters, Sandra Taggart and her husband, Dan and Sharon McGinnis and her husband, Pete; grandchildren: Victoria, Hailey, Cassidy, Dillon and Pierson; his brother, Lloyd Gibson and partner, Jay Dreibelbis; his sister, Rosalind Rokita and her husband, Dave; his brothers-in-law, Bruce Croneberger and wife, Shirley and Donald Croneberger and wife, Lucy, along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. There will be Masonic and Order of Eastern Star services beginning at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to Sullivan-St. Tammany Chapter #298 OES, 23 Johnston Road, Livingston Manor, NY 12758.
