Obituary of Harold D. Brown

Harold D. Brown Jr. of Grahamsville, NY passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 81. He was born on April 30, 1932 to the late Harold Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Yorks Brown in Ellenville, NY. Harold graduated from Ellenville High School in 1951. In 1954 he went to work for the City of New York at the Rondout Reservoir. During his tenure with NYC he also worked out of the Grahamsville and Ashokan Offices and was appointed as Upstate Field Representative for DC37 AFSCME AFL-CIO in 1968. He retired in 1987 after 32 years of service. He was a Democratic Committeeman in the Town of Wawarsing for approximately thirty years; Democratic Town Chairman in the Town of Wawarsing from 1972-1973; and Democratic County Chairman in Ulster County from 1973-1979. He loved hunting and fishing, carpentry work and renovating his home, traveling, genealogy and was a fan of Nascar Racing. He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Arlene (Crawford) Brown of Grahamsville, three daughters, Denise Brown (Michael Lowitz) of Woodbourne, Kathy McCarthy and Janine Brown of Grahamsville; six grandchildren, Heather Eddings (Rich) of Albany, Jason Constant (Heidi) of Hudson Falls, Ed McCarthy of Grahamsville, Chris McCarthy (Jennifer) of Grantville, PA., Katlyn and Tyler Cassidy of Grahamsville, NY and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Loucks Funeral Home 79 North Main Street, Ellenville, NY 12428 from 7-9:00pm. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the funeral home at 11:00am Pastor Mike Sparrow will officiate. Interment will follow at Grahamsville Cemetery.
