Raymond George "Mountain Man Markle" Markle, 76, of Kerhonkson, NY passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side after battling a short illness.
Raymond was born October 2, 1937 in Kingston, NY to Eltin and Lena Markle. He was a retired engineer for IBM, and a former member of the Army National Guard and Reserves. Raymond very much enjoyed the outdoors. "Dad had such a passion for hunting and fishing (lets not forget trap shooting!). Guns in general were Dad's favorite thing, other than his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love for the outdoors and drag racing (in his younger days) was unsurpassed.
He is survived by his brother Elting Markle and his wife Gail of Long Prairie, MN; a sister Peggy Traver and her husband Donald of Kerhonkson; and sister-in-law Marianne Markle of Kerhonkson, NY; his three children: Robert Markle of West Deptford, NJ; Melissa Lake and husband Christopher of Woodbourne, NY; and Kevin Markle and his wife Anna of Sundown, NY; his beloved grandchildren: Joey, Tina, Jess, Cassie, Clarissa, Christopher, Missy, Megan, Kaitlin, Shawn, Erin and precious great grandchildren: Jayce, Issac, and Elijah, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his father, Eltin Markle; brothr, Richard Markle and Mother, Lena Markle.
His humor and sarcasm were adored by many.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on October 4, 2014 at 11a.m. at the Warwarsing Rod & Gun club in Napanoch, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his name to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial-Bryant Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
