Obituary of Althea A. Booth
Althea A. Booth of Monticello, NY entered into eternal rest to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, September 20, 2013 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 71 years young.
The daughter of the late Wilfred Sr. and Ester (Thomas) Smith, she was born on March 11, 1942 in Sunrise, Louisiana.
Althea was an extraordinary and dedicated woman to all of her careers and positions that she had endured during her life. She was a NYC police officer; NYC mail carrier; Job Corp. counselor of VA; Pias DCF counselor of Newburgh, NY; Substitute teacher of Middletown, NY; and a foster mother for many local children.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending quality time with her family.
Althea is survived by her daughter, Adrianne B. Jackson; granddaughter, Kylesha Love Jackson; brother, Wilfred Smith Jr. and her sister, June Carol Smith, nieces and nephews Cleopatra Spriggs, Quintin Spriggs, Sir Erric Smith, Stephon Spriggs, Kerline Spriggs, Guichard Spriggs, her great nieces and nephews Dave Smith Jr., Erric Smith Jr., Danny Smith, Sieara Smith, Daquan Gray, Amiyah Smith, Jordyn Smith, Camille Spriggs, Danny Smith Jr., David Cruz and Gabby Smith, along with a host of loving friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 St. Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. Her Funeral Service will begin at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m.; Bishop-Elect Troy R. Johnson will officiate. Interment is to follow at Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, NY.
